A 32 Page Miss Rumphius Give-Away!!!!!

It's finally here! My Miss Rumphius Earth Day unit!

It's actually much, much more than an Earth Day unit. There are over 30 pages of activities, including reading, art, and earth day printables! You can check it out here, at my Teachers Pay Teachers shop! If you can't find the time for it before Earth Day, it goes perfectly with your spring, character education, and reading lessons.

I'd love to give a copy of my unit away, along with a copy of the book, Miss Rumphius. I know Earth Day is coming up fast, but you can use this unit anytime!

This giveaway will end on Saturday, April 21st at 12am Eastern.

There are many ways to win:

1) Become a follower and leave a comment letting us know you're a follower (or if you're already a follower, leave us a comment letting us know)

2) Follow our TpT store, and leave a comment letting us know.

3) Blog about our give-away, and leave us a comment letting us know you did so!

Here's the deal--- we know we're a pretty small blog right now, so your chances are pretty good, right?!  I think so!!!!!!

I hope you enter, and I hope you love my first big production :)

Sneak Peak

I've been hard at work on a fun-filled, educationally fit, standard's driven packet featuring my favorite book in the whole, wide world: Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney.

Please tell me you've read it. I've read it a million times. No less. My mom read it to me, I read it to myself, I read it to my brother and sister, and now I read it to my students. And then they read, and read, and read it to themselves.

The pictures are beyond amazing. They are literally the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen. I have plans to frame the illustrations for my baby's nursery. The baby I don't have yet. Because I'm not even pregnant. But I plan on that someday, and the Barbara Cooney pictures will be framed in the baby's room.

I wouldn't blame you if you only read the books for the pictures. However, as beautiful as the pictures are, the message in the book is even more so. You really can use this book to teach just about every reading concept there is. You could use it to teach character education too. But, it is also a really great book to use for Earth Day, as a sort of alternative Earth Day text and activity.

I can't wait to share this packet with you, as well as the message of the book. Hopefully I can get my butt in gear and get this packet out there soon. So very soon.

Look for it!

Random Acts of Kindness with Mr. Hatch

Hello Everyone!

Is it really Sunday afternoon already? These weekends seem to go by so fast...Oh well, we're only 4 and a half days away from a 3 and a half day weekend!  (But who's counting????)

Valentine's Day is only a few short days away, and while I don't know what I'm getting my fiancee, I do know what I'll be doing for my students!  Priorities ;)

Among a few craftivties I found on Pinterest, I'll be using my new mini-unit called "Random Acts of Kindness with Mr. Hatch" after reading one of the cutest books ever! First of all, does everyone read this book for Valentine's Day??? I found it by chance a few years ago, and thought I was in on this little secret no one had any idea about.  But alas, such was not the case.  And I get it, it's a really good book, with a cute plot (doesn't everyone have a cranky old man in their neighborhood?), and an even better lesson to be learned.

There are so many great Mr. Hatch resources out there.  Including the oh-so-cute coupon book from  Christina Bainbridge.  If you found our blog, you definitely know about hers.  She's great.  Jenna and I have been fans of hers since before her blog, when she only had a website.  Yes.  She rocks both.  Superbly. Well, she made a cute **free** coupon book to go with Somebody Loves You Mr. Hatch, and I use it every year.  Check it out here. (Look under S).

So, even though there are tons of wonderful resources out there, I thought I'd add to the mix.  I created a mini-packet based on all the Random Acts of Kindess Mr. Hatch and the other characters commit in the book.

I'm uploading it to my oooold Teacher's Pay Teachers account (Jenna and I have to set one up... still...add it to the list!!!!) for just $2.00, but of course I have a little freebie action for you too!  Here are the comprehension questions I included in the packet:

I hope you find this, and have time to use it, before Valentine's Day...but it really could be used anytime your little ones need a refresher on the art of being kind.

By the way, if you're just stopping by, won't you please take the time to be a follower.  Or, leave a comment letting us know you were here.

Thanks, and have a good week!!!
