Well that title wins the award of my most random title ever.
It’s Election Day! Have you heard? Besides that other election, our 2nd graders voted for their Candy bar President today.
It was a lot of fun!
First, we made sure we had our Voter Registration Cards. {With these photo ID laws changing back and forth, we wanted to be prepared}
This one is one of Jenna’s students. I just loved her ID picture, so I had to snap it :)
Then, we made speeches to all three 2nd grade classes.
We decided as a grade level to vote for candy bars in each other’s classes. We thought that would make for a more fair election.
These were some passionate speeches.
{favorite line: “My name is Mr. Snickers and I improve this message}. That one elicited a ton of giggles.
Then it was time to vote. I dropped the ball regarding making a really cute election booth. It’s just been so crazy around here the last few weeks….so I made a make-shift one in my supply closet.
It was an extremely close election. {Much like that other election is promising to be}
8 votes to 7 votes. Snickers or Kit-Kat?
But the victor was…
Can you believe Twix was not even in the running?
They had a lot of fun with this here Candy Bar Election, and I got to secretly teach them about the important parts of the election. Win. Win.
Tomorrow we’ll celebrate our new president with a Snickers Party. We’ll also graph the results and write a newspaper article about it!
In case you’re wondering, all of these activities are from my Candy Bar Election packet. I put it ON SALE over at TpT in case you wanna grab it for next year! Yes! I do it every year {even non-election years}.
And last but not least, my hubby and I are flying out to Charleston to meet two other couple friends for a weekend getaway! We’re so looking forward to it. I’ve done my research on where to go, but we’re always looking for other suggestions! We like to eat and enjoy a cocktail or two, but we’re up for anything! Email me, or leave a suggestion or 12 in the comments below!!!!
Thanks so much!
Enjoy the rest of your week.
I leave you with my election buddy from earlier tonight. My Georgie Girl.
